Dolores

Dolores was an exhibition shown from 8th of May until 3rd July 2005 in the factory Kunsthalle Krems, Austria.
This exhibition was produced by the artist Katrina Daschner. Dolores is a new interpretation of the story of Lolita, based on the novel of Vladimir Nabokov which was published in 1955 and the film “Lolita” by the filmmaker Stanley Kubrick. Katrina Daschner developed an installation with 6 stations and narrated the story with video, photography and audio. In contrast to her former works, in this work she operated with Mexican actresses in Mexico. Like in her other works, performative transformations and transgressions of gender are the thematic focus of this project. Lolita becomes Dolores and Humbert is a female artist in her middle ages. In contradiction to the novel and film, the narrrative perspective is not only Lolita’s but finally Lolita found out her way to live her own lesbian sexuality.
